From a book…
In 2014 CAMH Education launched its very first mobile app, based on the highly successful Saying When program developed by former CAMH senior scientist, Dr. Martha Sanchez-Craig. The app is an expansion on Dr. Sanchez-Craig’s work, which was captured in the CAMH publication, Saying When: How to quit drinking or cut down.
The Saying When program had a proven track record of more than 20 years in this format, so we knew when we brought the program to life for mobile it would be a success—and it was!
“This is a great app that is easy to use for harm reduction or moderation management.” — iTunes review
…to a very successful iOS app
In the two years that Saying When has been available for iOS users it has been downloaded from the iTunes store more than 32,000 times!
In these past few years we’ve been listening to user and internal feedback and making updates to the iOS version—including adding in a function that allows users to anonymously donate their usage data for CAMH research purposes. This update came in response to a research and evaluation project currently in progress that we’ll be able to share more about in the new year.
“I am LOVING this app. It’s exactly what I wished existed!” — CAMH Education Blog comment
And on to its next conquest: The Google Play store!
Of course one of the biggest requests we’ve received since we first launched the app was to make it available for users with Android phones—and this fall we were finally able to make that happen.
“For moderating or quitting drinking. Simply, amazing.” — iTunes review
