Program Overview
Forensic General Unit A (1-2)
CAMH's Forensic General Unit A (Unit 1, 2nd floor) of the Complex Care & Recovery Program provides rehabilitation services as well as the reintegration into the community to 30 co-ed patients on an inpatient basis.
All patients are admitted under the Criminal Code of Canada, (i.e., patients have been found not criminally responsible, unfit to stand trial or have treatment orders).
The goal of the program is to provide effective clinical treatment and risk management to patients so that optimal functioning is maintained and the likelihood of successful reintegration into the community is increased.
Forensic General Unit B (1-3)
CAMH's General Rehabilitation Unit B (LGUB) provides rehabilitation services as well as reintegration into the community to 31 male patients on an inpatient basis.
Forensic General Unit D (1-5)
CAMH's Forensic General Unit D (FGUD) of the Complex Care & Recovery Program provides rehabilitation and risk management to 16 co-ed patients on an inpatient basis.
All patients are admitted under the Criminal Code of Canada, i.e. they have been found not criminally responsible, unfit to stand trial or have treatment orders. The patients referred to FGUD require an increased level of support, not increased security, and are more likely to have a hybrid order on their disposition .
The goal of the unit is the provision of effective clinical treatment and risk management to patients with a wide-range of diagnosis who present with high needs. Ultimately, the goal is to increase engagement of the patients in their treatment, and maintain or increase optimal functioning so that the likelihood of successful reintegration into the community is increased.
