              CAMH's New Beginnings Clinic offers psychiatric consulting, care provider consulting and culturally sensitive interventions to newly arrived immigrants and refugees.

              Welcome to The New Beginnings Clinic

              The New Beginnings Clinic at CAMH (the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health) is a dedicated outpatient service offering psychiatric consultation and culturally sensitive interventions for newcomers, including immigrants and refugees within their first three years in Canada.  

              Established in March 2016, the New Beginnings Clinic was launched in response to the resettlement surge of Syrian individuals. While initially focused on this group, our services are now available to all immigrants and refugees within their first three years in Canada.

              Intended For

              Primary care and other support providers can access the clinic to discuss and get advice on refugee client/ patient cases. 

              Referral Requirements:
              Physician referral required. Please download the form and call your doctor.
              Additional Referral Details

              • Option 1: Physicians must fill out both a New Beginnings Clinic fillable cover sheet as well as the CAMH referral form. Complete the fillable cover sheet first, save it as a file and include it in the attachments section of the CAMH referral form.
              • Option 2: Complete the fillable cover sheet, print a copy, print a copy of theCAMH referral form, fill in both the cover sheet and the referral form and fax to 416-979-6815.

              Due to high volume of referrals, currently, at new beginning clinic we have a wait list of 3 months to see the psychiatrist.

              Program Overview

              What we do

              The service has two components: case consultation for primary care providers and psychiatric consultation for newly arrived immigrants and refugees. Case consultation may result in a recommendation for psychiatric consultation and brief culturally sensitive intervention in the CAMH service.
