- Clothing boutique for CAMH clients
Program Overview
Suits Me Fine (SMF), located at our Queen Street site, is a clothing boutique open to all CAMH clients. People in the community, CAMH staff and local businesses have generously donated new and gently used clothing to CAMH, and these clothes are made available to our clients free of charge. The store offers a wide range of wardrobe choices, from essentials such as socks and undergarments to casual wear and formal attire including suits, dresses and accessories.
Staffed by volunteers, SMF provides professional and formal clothing for important occasions such as job interviews, court appointments and special events. Suits Me Fine also provides a much needed wardrobe and toiletries to our clients who come by ambulance or through the criminal justice system—admitted to CAMH solely with the clothing they are wearing. The store provides winter coats and shoes whenever possible.
Suits Me Fine is a clothing store but in reality is so much more. Volunteers assist approximately 20-50 clients a day, providing glimpses of hope and a welcoming place for clients to socialize with friends and meet new acquaintances. These social interactions not only reduce the risk of alienation but give clients opportunities that many take for granted, such as having a place to shop and a place to get their nails done. New clothes and these positive social interactions build confidence and self-esteem in our clients and assist them in reintegrating back into society for a complete recovery.
Suits Me Fine also holds a fashion show in the spring each year. CAMH clients select their outfits from the SMF shop and model them on the runway.
